Agri-Culture 01 is part of the Chaos Agri-Culture series of paintings. One of the first of the series.
It started out as research and investigation of landscapes, the structure of farmfields interested me. Whilst working on these sketches from photos taken from places I’d visited I stumbled across a tattered, old copy of Alvin Tofflers’ Future Shock.
As I read, something changed in the sketches. I moved them around, the fields became more complex, Chaos erupted from the landscapes. Out of the fields came forth impossible cityscapes that imploded and exploded simultaneously. The future was hitting us too quickly and the control was gone. The pull of our heritage and history and our desire to push forward into the future is too fast for some and not fast enough for others.
The rapidity of change is hitting hard . . .
