Memories of Tall Buildings I Used To Know is part of a series of paintings dedicated to the recollection and representation of buildings from memory. Instead of relying on painting these buildings using photographs, I dive into my own memories in search of the emotions I have experienced while looking at these architectures, depicting in this way a personal and intimate experience instead of a realistic representation of the actual buildings. 

While working on this painting, I realised that in some ways our memory plays tricks on us. We might recall an event. We believe it to be exactly as the memory tells us it was, but instead it almost never is. As we forget, memory repaints what we used to know into something else. It fools us. Maybe I am being unfair to memory, maybe it rebuilds what we used to know in what we wished it had been. Maybe our memory improves our experience?
