Description
krakfish-sksm is part of a continuing series of films and digital artworks.
This experimental film takes as its subject the Vol au Vent, a jack-up vessel used in offshore wind turbine construction. Docked in 2024, it became a temporary monument in the town’s landscape, its vast structure dominating the skyline, illuminated at night and underscored by the mechanical rhythm of industry.
The entire work originates from a single photograph of the vessel. Through a process of deconstruction, stop-frame animation and digital reworking, the still image is expanded into moving sequences that reimagine the static as dynamic. Once the film is complete, an original score is composed to heighten its atmosphere and extend its rhythm into sound.
The finished film is then disassembled again, examined frame by frame to uncover compositions that can exist independently as digital artworks. These images are refined, becoming the foundation for new iterations. The process is cyclical, ensuring that each work contains within it the potential for another, resisting closure and affirming transformation as the central motif.
